Thanksgiving Dinner:The Thanksgiving Dinner team welcomes people from the church and the community to dinner at noon each Thanksgiving Day. In 2010 we celebrated the 11th serving of the traditional meal. Church cooks provide turkeys, hams, stuffing, potatoes and gravy. Those who attend bring favorite holiday dishes (veggies, salads, desserts) to share.
Helpers are welcome as the team sets tables and carves turkeys on Wednesday. Thursday morning anyone who likes to cook is welcome to help in the kitchen. The tables fill quickly as individuals and families gather about 11:30 with serving starting right at noon.
After the meal (and seconds) some fill to-go boxes for the homebound while others help with dishes and cleanup. Originally planned as a meal for those who would be alone on Thanksgiving, the team finds that multi-generation families enjoy eating at the church, too. Groups from one to more than 20 are welcomed, and church affiliation isn't required.
